Waterwise is the leading authority on water efficiency and focused on reducing the amount of water we all use at home and at work by 2010. Waterwise believes the key to water efficiency is reducing waste not restricting use. It is working together with Future Friendly to help people adopt positive changes to lead a more sustainable life. It is an independent, not-for-profit non-governmental organisation. Waterwise is committed to sustainable development and works with key partners in water companies, governments (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and local), manufacturers, retailers, NGOs, environmentalists, regulators, agriculture, business, domestic consumers and the media. In England, Waterwise sits on the Environment Minister’s Water Saving Group alongside the water industry and regulators. It receives funding from the UK water industry and through sponsorship and consultancy. Waterwise brings together leading policy makers, doers and thinkers on water efficiency in their annual Water Efficiency Conference as part of the United Nations World Water Day programme. It has also founded the Waterwise Marque, the first annual award scheme for water using products which highlight water efficiency.
