Up to 40% of the energy used in each load could be saved by washing at a lower temperature, helping everyone to make savings on their energy bills as well as reduce their carbon footprint. With the average household using their washing machine 274 times a year (just over 5 times a week), our washing habits contribute to the 25% of the UK’s CO2 emissions that are produced by our own homes. One way to do our bit for the planet can therefore be as quick and easy as turning a dial and, working together, washing at 30 can make a big difference. Ariel has a Cool Clean formula which means it leaves clothes brilliantly clean even at low temperatures. If everyone in the UK did a good turn and washed at 30°C, we could save up to £170 million per year!
